SPL consider alternative TV offers from ESPN & Sky

A glimmer of hope for the armchair Fan if this is stood up:

But while Setanta's 450 staff were left bracing themselves for administration - possibly as early as Monday - and there was still no sign of the SPL's outstanding money, details were emerging of two rival offers from ESPN and Sky, guaranteeing 90% and 60%-70% respectively of the deal agreed with Setanta. A £125m contract over four years was due to begin with the broadcaster at the start of 2010.

Which, if the percentages quoted are correct, means our domestic TV rights would be worth circa £1.35 million or £900,000 - £1.05 million for the remainder of the current deal with the unrealistic £125 million deal due to commence in 2010 becoming a more credible £112.5 million or £75 - £87.5 million.

Perhaps the end of the world is not so close.Smile
